The Hammer Fall Classic kicked off our 2013/2014 season and the Junior Raiders were well represented in Naperville. We had 23 wrestlers compete in this annual event and did an outstanding job at every level. 14 out of the 23 wrestlers came home with a title or a runner up. Second place finishers included Aidan Scholwin, KJ Whitaker, Nain Vazquez,Robert Major, Matt Ramos, Jimmy Pierandozzi, Dylan Burnoski, and Juwan Robinson. Hammer Classic Champions were Jean-Luc Guerra, AJ Villar, Josh Vazquez, Alex Villar, Ronald Tucker,and Corey Sapp. Great job boys!

Congratulations to our Junior Raiders on their 3rd place finish going 7-1 on Sunday. We won our pool going 5-0 including a thrilling victory over Indiana Gold (Indiana state champion team). We lost a close decision to A&B core Team New Jersey (all star team from the east coast) in the gold bracket. I was very proud of our boys who competed in the duals. I would also like to congratulate those who competed in the open tournament on Saturday. 6 out of 9 wrestlers made it to the finals and 5 boys won the title. Champions included Josh Vasquez 45lbs, Matt Ramos 65lbs, Jimmy Pierandozzi 80lbs,Dylan Burnoski 85lbs, and Ronald Tucker hwt. Great job boys….go Raiders!

Congratulations to our wrestlers who competed in the Midwest Nationals tournament. As a club we have won 9 titles in 5 years, yesterday we won the 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, and 5th/6th grade divisions. We had 18 wrestlers in the finals Michael Major, Aidan Schlowin, AJ Villar, Josh Vazquez, Nain Vazquez, Javen Estrada, Dylan Burnoski, Jimmy Pierandozzi, Matt Ramos, Corey Sapp, Baylor Fernandes, Jacob Dado, Josh Ramos, Brandon Ramos, Miles Trahey, Kyle Jahn, Liam Hannon and Vince Hannon. 10 Champions were AJ Villar, Josh Vazquez, Nain Vazquez, Dylan Burnoski, Jimmy Pierandozzi, Matt Ramos, Baylor Fernandes, Jacob Dado, Kyle Jahn, and Vince Hannon. Congratulations to Nain Vazquez on winning the Greco State Title in the Intermidiate Division this weekend. Nain becomes the 2nd Raider to win a Greco Title (Alex Villar). Nain went 4-0 this weekend and beat KAI NEUMARK in the finals. Great Job Nain! His younger brother Josh took 2nd place in the Bantam divison.

Congratulations to Matt Ramos on winning the Novice 65lb State title at yesterdays event in Champaign Illinois. Matt pinneded ANTERRUIS TURNER in 42 seconds in the finals. Matt becomes the Junior Raiders 2nd Freestyle champion (Kyle Schickel 2010). Special mention to the Vazquez brothers Josh and Nain Vazquez on their second place finish. Very proud of all the boys who competed this weekend!
